Account deletion
You can ask FinBuddee to delete your account and the data we hold about you at any time, without uninstalling the app. This page explains how, what is removed, and how to clear the data stored on your phone.
1How to request deletion
Email finbuddee@gmail.com from the email address of the Google account you use to sign in to FinBuddee, with the subject "Delete my FinBuddee account". You do not need to uninstall the app first.
- Step 1 — If you have FinBuddee Premium, cancel it in Google Play under Payments & subscriptions. Deleting your account does not cancel billing.
- Step 2 — Send the email from your sign-in address. Include the name on the account; do not include any financial details.
- Step 3 — We reply to confirm the request before deleting anything.
- Step 4 — We delete your account and data and email you when it is done.
2Identity verification
To protect your account, we only act on requests sent from, or confirmed by, the email address of the account. We never ask for passwords, PINs, CVVs, one-time passwords, or full card numbers.
3Processing timeframe
We complete verified deletion requests within 30 days and email you a confirmation. Deleted data is removed from our database backups within a further 35 days as they are overwritten.
4Data that is deleted
- Your profile: name, email address, Google account identifier, and profile photo link.
- Sign-in sessions and device installation identifiers; you are signed out of every device.
- Premium cloud data: accounts, balances, transactions, categories, and the SMS, email, and statement data used to create them, including uploaded statement files.
- Your Gmail connection and the Google access tokens we stored.
- AI-assistant authorizations and their request records.
- Your family-group membership and the link between your account and its subscription.
- Issue reports and support data linked to your account, once your request is closed.
5Data that may be kept
- Subscription billing records that we must keep by law, for the period the law requires. Google keeps its own Google Play purchase records under Google's policies.
- Pseudonymous analytics events, which are not linked to your name or email and expire within one year.
- Anonymous message-format templates, which contain no personal or financial details and cannot be linked to you.
- Information we must keep to comply with a legal obligation, or to resolve a dispute or prevent fraud, only for as long as needed.
6If you are in a family group
If you are a member, you are removed from the family group. If you own the family group, it is closed and each other member moves to their own personal space; data that other members added to their own accounts is not deleted by your request.
7Data stored on your phone
On the free plan, your financial records live on your phone, not with FinBuddee. To delete them, open Android Settings, then Apps, then FinBuddee, then Storage, and choose Clear storage — or uninstall the app. If Android backup is turned on, your Google account backup may keep an encrypted copy of app data until it expires or you delete it in your Google settings.
8Uninstalling vs deleting your account
Uninstalling removes the app and the data stored on that phone, but it does not delete your FinBuddee account, any Premium cloud data, or your subscription. Request account deletion as described above to remove what FinBuddee holds.
9Deleting some data without deleting your account
- Delete financial accounts you no longer want to track in the app.
- Disconnect Gmail in Settings to stop email imports.
- Revoke connected AI apps in Settings.
- Leave a family group from the family settings screen.
- Withdraw SMS permission in Android settings to stop reading new messages.
- To ask us to delete specific data, such as an issue report, email finbuddee@gmail.com.
